It's crazy how my brain went off when I was reading this list of buzzwords in the Do these/Fix these section. I've become a victim of the algorithm without even realizing it...
literally same as I was writing it! something I'm practicing this week is to immediately just scroll past videos that have any of these trigger words + not opening tiktok in the morning/night before I sleep. limiting the sources that risk me creating false narratives about myself has already proven to be so much more empowering and honestly, a RELIEF, this week!
Super relatable and insightful ⭐️ I like the set up of what capitalism benefits from us feeling about our bodies vs. what is ancestral and precious and cannot be standardized in us
Really resonated with the idea that capitalism is driven off our hatred for ourselves and how far we are willing to go to change our relationship with ourselves. I think being conscious of what drives companies and social media influencers to promote these things allows ourselves to understand how genuine they are about 'helping' others.
this phenomenon of "how far we are willing to go to change our relationship with ourselves" is truly a remarkably dark and powerful impact these capitalistic entities and the players within it have on us. you're definitely right on being conscious about these, and I think once we're able to do that, we can find ways to reduce, limit, or eliminate this impact on us, whether that means being more wary of how our subconscious minds process this information, or how we go about our own habits and practices, or even just reduce time on the app, or delete them altogether.
plus awareness is key, and community rising up together against these harmful trends propagated by companies and influencers will limit their power. long ways to go, but one step at a time :)
"You are what you tell yourself you are, and not what others tell you you are. - especially others who claim to know you when they don’t know you at all and talk at you and tell you how to live your life despite not knowing anything about who you are and the life that you live"

love you. more power to us in seeing our bodies as an collection and continuation of who we came from ✨

Loved the lines below. An excellent article!
"You are what you tell yourself you are, and not what others tell you you are. - especially others who claim to know you when they don’t know you at all and talk at you and tell you how to live your life despite not knowing anything about who you are and the life that you live"
something that applies to everything in our lives, and not just how we see our bodies!!!
thank you and love you for all the support <3
